F1 Miami Grand Prix: 2026 Road Closure Guide for Residents

The fifth edition of the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix returns to the Miami International Autodrome from May 1 to May 3, 2026. For the residents of Miami Gardens, this means world-class racing is back in our backyard, but it also means significant changes to our daily commute. This guide outlines the specific street closures and "Egress" patterns announced by the city and South Florida Motorsports.

The "Clean Zone" Effect: During the race weekend, the area surrounding Hard Rock Stadium becomes a restricted zone. Local traffic will be prioritized, but expect heavy delays on all major arteries including NW 27th Ave and Florida's Turnpike.

Specific Road Closures & Times

Roadway Closure Type Effective Dates/Times
Florida's Turnpike Exit 2X Full Closure (North/South) Thursday, April 30 (8:00 AM) to Sunday, May 3 (11:59 PM)
NW 199th Street Full Egress Closure (Both Directions) Daily: 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM (May 1 to May 3)
NW 27th Avenue Restricted Access (NW 191st to 203rd) Peak Hours: 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Navigating Your Neighborhood

If you live in Lake Lucerne, Norwood, or Carol City, you are encouraged to use NW 37th Avenue or NW 17th Avenue as north-south alternatives. The city will implement a "Residential Access Only" lane on portions of NW 199th Street, but you must have a government-issued ID with a local address to pass through the police checkpoints near the stadium entrance.

Pro Tip for Locals: Planning a grocery run or errands? We recommend completing all local travel before 11:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. Sunday (Race Day) will see the highest volume of pedestrian traffic, making NW 27th Avenue nearly impassable between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
