South District Wastewater Treatment Plant

The South District Wastewater Treatment Plant (SDWWTP) is a water treatment plant located adjacent to Blackpoint Marina in South Miami-Dade County. It is undergoing a significant $660 million Ocean Outfall Legislation Program (OOL) which includes nine construction/rehabilitation projects to improve and expand existing wastewater collection and treatment systems to meet future projected flows and loads. Key projects include clarifiers and high-level disinfection (HLD) with new secondary clarifiers, RAS pump station improvements, and a new filter train (ST-2B, estimated $50M+), as well as a new chlorine contact tank, 72-inch well loop interconnect, and miscellaneous improvements (ST-2C, estimated $55M+). The plant is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is wheelchair accessible, including accessible parking.
